Hi, we are Michelle and Doug
In the summer of 2016, we took a life changing vacation and would like to share with you the ways in which that journey indelibly imprinted on our souls. Rather than providing a day by day account of where we were and what we did through a series of “selfies”, we thought it would be more meaningful to take an alternate approach. This website offers an intimate and personal perspective of Europe through our eyes. For each destination, Europe is represented in three lights: Rick Steves Europe, Michelle’s Europe, and Doug’s Europe. But don’t expect to see us blocking the view. Let’s be honest, we didn’t travel all that way to see ourselves obstructing every beautiful scene!

We chose Rick Steves because we knew his tours were well-researched and thoughtfully planned. We knew he would meticulously deliver bucket list destinations and great accommodations. Needless to say, every detail exceeded our expectations! We did not, however, anticipate that our free time would also be so meaningful....

In addition to the Rick Steves experience, this web site will focus on how our trip affected us. We will treasure standing inside the Coliseum but it was the back streets of Rome that became a part of us. A gondola ride is something everyone should experience, yet our time in Venice’s alleys seems to have merged with our DNA.

Rick Steves tours are ideal for travelers looking for the ultimate vacation experience. Must-see attractions, hotels, transportation, and many meals are included in the tour cost. Perfectly balanced with plenty of free time, travelers are able to customize the journey to their interests. A portion of each day is spent with tour guides, who expertly introduce travelers to local sights. The rest of each day is free time, perfect for exploring the "best of the rest". Tour guides are happy to assist in orienting travelers at each location, including recommendations for dining, shopping, and sightseeing. It’s truly a great way to travel Europe. If you have reservations about group tours, you aren't alone. We, too, were apprehensive. That aspect of the Rick Steves experience, however, was possibly the biggest surprise for us. We never expected to forge such beautiful friendships!

One last point: We found lots of sites that list tips and tricks to traveling. Our Tip: Follow Rick Steves advice! He knows Europe!
